On September 1, 2008, Nicole Chuchmach and her team will begin an eight-week run from her small hometown of Milton, Ontario, Canada to the bright lights of New York City to raise awareness of colorectal cancer. Nicole lost her mother, Sophie, to the disease in 2006. After Sophie passed away, Nicole made it her mission to save other people from the disease the best way she knows howóby running. Running was Nicole's therapy when her mother was battling colorectal cancer, and today it is her healing tool. It is also her way to help others.

Nicole's goal is to educate citizens in Canada and the United States about colorectal cancer and the importance of screening, so that more people can be spared from the disease. Along the route to her final destination, Nicole will make several stops to speak with individuals and media. When she reaches the heart of New York City, the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada (CCAC) together with a major cancer center, will host a celebratory press conference and provide free information on colorectal cancer.

"When I was diagnosed with rectal cancer I'd ignored the signs and symptoms of my disease for months. I felt sorry , I felt I'd let my family down, I hope you will learn from my experience and understand the early symptons of colorectal cancer."
